Remembering David Peaston
R&B singer David Peaston passed away on February 1 at the age of 54. He had a couple of hits in the late 80’s and early 90’s, earning himself a New Artist of the Year Award at the Soul Train Music Awards. The videos are of his two biggest songs.

Remembering Tom Ardolino
Tom Ardolino, drummer for cult favourite NRBQ, passed away on January 6 at the age of 56. NRBQ is actually short for New Rhythm and Blues Quartet. He joined the band in 1974 and played with them until they took a sabbatical in 2004, and when they had a reunion performance. His style of drumming was perfect for the band. The band is a new discovery for me and I am having a hoot going through their material online. To celebrate Tommy’s life, I have added several videos for us to enjoy.

Remembering Robert Dickey
Robert Dickey was the original Bobby in “James and Bobby Purify“. The group had 2 major hits, the first of what I have inserted is “I’m Your Puppet” and the second was “Shake A Tail Feather”. The person who posted the first video wrote a section which covers the history of both the duo and Robert Dickey. Both tunes are classics in their own right. I’d write more, but the section in the first video says all that needs saying.

Remembering Danny DeGennaro
This was a fantastic player. Tragically, he was shot to death at his home in Philadelphia. Danny DeGennaro was an unbelievable guitar man. His pedigree extensive. Best known for being in the Kingfish, part of the Grateful Deads touring family, he was also in such bands as Danny D and the Torpedoes. A partial list of people he played with includes Bo Diddley, Clarence Clemons and Billy Squier. Another player that will be missed. The video is a live version of Pride and Joy with the Kingfish.
