Great Moments in Boston Bruins History – Part 5

Part 5 in my series commemorating the Bruins victory over the Canadiens

Getting bored with this, but have to do a Lucic fight before I end it.  Fun while it lasted and will do more after we flip and flop the Flyers  Hope all you Hab fans enjoyed this, probably not though.  By the way, Ken Dryden is looking for work.  Unbelievable as it seems, someone actually beat him.

Waterspout, May 2, 2011 in Honolulu!!

I though Hawaii was the perfect spot for weather.  This happened yesterday.  It was a waterspout and didn’t come to shore.

Listening to Mumford & Sons

I was watching the Grammys and, as happens every year, getting pretty bored of the big show, when Mumford & Sons is introduced.  They are all jammed up together on the stage and start playing.  I am immediately enthralled by what I am hearing, then enthused.  These guys are good.  Not normally my cup of tea, mandolins, banjos and straight ahead folk music.  Then I find out they are English, wow.  I’m thinking they were right out of the hills in the USA somewhere (no offence to my American friends, just saying).  Other than Jagger backed up by Rafael Saadiq and his band, the highlight of the show and the only album I bought while watching.  Here they are, playing The Cave.

Cruising – Happy Birthday Cheryl

As a birthday present to my sister-in-law Cheryl, I will not be posting my planned summary of the events of Day 2 at sea, the Pub Crawl today.  Regular programming will continue tomorrow, unless that $100 makes it here, in which case I would have to deprive the world of this post.

Happy Birthday Cheryl

The Gates – The Lingo of Scandals – Nipplegate

Every boys dream Super Bowl halftime show.  What could possibly go wrong.  Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake created major controversy and headlines in 2004.  The “accident” generated over a half million complaints to the FCC in the USA and caused the FCC to change their maximum fine from $27,500 to $325,000 per incident.  this resulted in a $550,000 fine to CBS.

The Gates – The Lingo of Scandals

By now, most Canadians have heard of “Mastergate”, the newest entry into pop lingo.  If you are unaware of this, Canada is having an election and this story was released about one of the contenders for our Prime Minister.

I won’t dwell on this, but needless to say, the gate linguists came up with a beauty, dubbing it Mastergate.

Over the next few weeks, I will be posting a different Gate with some background information and links.  Some will be fictional, as in The Simpsons episode that featured Waitergate, but most will be real, and hopefully all will be witty.  Feel free to post any witticisms you can add to the story.

Cruising From New Orleans March 20, 2011 – At Sea (Kind of)

I am thinking I should have named this what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but this ain’t Vegas.  We are cruising into international waters on the NCL Spirit.  We departed at 5:00, but first we had to meet up with Gord and Cheryl, who arrived in New Orleans at midnight on the 19th.  We had our breakfast, made contact and headed off for our ship.  Arrived at about 11, were processed by noon and on board by 1.  The day ended in Y so it was time for a drink.  We found the pool, and made friends very quickly with one of the servers and proceeded to explore the beer menu.  It was extensive.  One bucket of Red Stripe (buy 5, get 1 free) later, Gord came up with a suggestion.  There is a pub crawl tomorrow, let’s do that.  (I’m thinkin’ Gord likes drinkin’).  After 6 beer,  that  sounded great, sign me up.  As all things do, the day was moving on and it appeared that it was time to find our staterooms and get ready for dinner.

Listening to Cake

Remember “Short Skirt/Long Jacket”.  That was Cake, and this is their latest, Sick of You.  You could say this is my theme song for today’s election.  This album was recorded using nothing but solar energy.  Just a bit of a tidbit for any green friends out there.  Enjoy.

Bobby Orr.  What can be said that hasn’t been said.

Listening to Adele

Another find from CBC2, while driving to work.  We have her first album, titled simply 19, and were very impressed with her voice and maturity.  The album title is her age.  Her new album, where this tune is from, is titled 21, and is again very very rich in vocal talent.  And, as seems to be our recent direction, another British talent.  Enjoy, if you have heard it before, you know what I mean.  If you haven’t, you are in for a treat.  Turn it up.
