Congratulations to the Boston Bruins goalie, Tim Thomas on completing his season with the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s best goaltender.  To win, he beat out Roberto Luongo of the Canucks and Pekke Rinne of the Nashville Predators in the balloting of the NHL’s general managers.  He was named on 26 of the 30 ballots, giving rise to the question, who did not think that he was not one of the NHL’s top 3 goaltenders.  Besides Vancouver GM, Mike Gillis that is, who likely put Luongo  as 1, 2 and 3.

This was only the second time in history that a goalie has won the Stanley Cup, the Conn Smythe Trophy and the Vezina in the same year, the first being Bernie Parent with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1974 AND 1975.  Tim now has a goal for next year.

In other NHL award news, Corey Perry won the Hart Trophy as the league’s most valuable player, beating out a Sedin (not sure, or care, which one) and Ryan Kesler won a well deserved Frank Selke trophy as the league’s best defensive forward.
