And We’re Off….Somewhere

We have a week off work and no idea what to do.  We were thinking south, BUT, as we have no kids, didn’t even think of spring break.  Sooo that’s out.  Sitting here feeling trapped, a decision has been made.  A night in Banff tonight, with a great supper and some honest discussion on what we do next.  The options are drive south from Banff to Idaho and Eastern Washington, maybe even Utah and a bit of Wyoming, OR, keep going west to Victoria, south to Seattle and Portland, then across to Montana and north home, OR go north from Banff through the Columbia Ice-fields and on to Jasper.  I am thinking straight south as the north is to wintery, the west is to far (lots of driving) and the south keeps us in control of the time space continuum.  Should be fun, we got tonight booked so far.

  1. I’ve always wanted to go to Banff. It looks breath taking! I think you’ll enjoy your drive south. If you do go to Utah, make sure you go to Salt Lake City and see the temple and do the tour. It’s really good. Also, there’s an incredible hotel called The Grand America in Salt Lake City. I highly recommend it. It’s one of the nicest hotels I’ve been to and it’s actually reasonable for the luxurious accommodations. (No pressure, just making suggestions! Have a great time and be careful driving!)

    1. That is the direction we are heading. In Banff right now and heading south to C’ouer D’alene and Spokane. Nice day for a drive in the mountains. Banff is a great town. We are so lucky to be 90 minutes away from our front door. Salt Lake is the goal but, we may get distracred by a bright shiny thing and have to turn around before we make it

  2. I did not know you could see the aurora borealis from Banf! So did you see it? My dad fondly talks of when he once visited the park 🙂

    1. Dont getmad at me but I have seen them countless times including banff. I lived in martensville saskatchewan for many years and they show up regular. The most intense I’ve ever seen were in la ronge Saskatchewan. They were actually purple orange and green and filled the sky. We were in the middle of the lake on a houseboat and it is one of the most beautiful things ever.
