No trivia question today for this one.

David Gray’s tune “Sail Away” is a metaphor for a lot of things. While the song has more to do with relationships, it also conjures up some beautiful visions of idyllically cruising the seven seas, and does so based on the tune and the use of the title prominently throughout the song. All the above aside, it is a remarkable song that can sweep you away into your thoughts. One of my all time favorites.

I’ve never heard this song but I really like it. It’s relaxing, dreamy and beautifully nostalgic.I think I’ve dated this guy before in several different packages.
Hey lilly, how you doing. i see your blog comes with a warning now lol. If you like this song, you should check out his other stuff. One of those artists on the edge of breaking out big time, but never does. Love him.
Love that song. Sort of haunting, and hypnotic…
It takes me away from everything whenever I hear it. Kind of close my eyes and zone out. I love it when a song does that
This song seems like a blend of genres. I’m not good at this but I suspect country, R&B, alternative, perhaps?
I think he is Irish, so the country effect may be coincidental. He is worth checking out. Excellent singersongwriter. The One I Love, Babylon, Caroline, You’re The World to Me are all great songs.
I will check all four. I appreciate you did not say to just check him and gave some specifics — me mind needs it.
Happy to share. And good point. I hate hunt and pecking as well
Oh my goodness! I just heard the songs and I had no idea he sang Babylon! I did not even know that song was called Babylon, I just knew the hum (you know, one of those songs). I just found out it is his biggest selling single to date.
I am SO happy I have it now… all thanks to my big Bean man!
Excellent. Happy to have helped out.
Definately one of my favourite David Gray songs – thanks for reminding me!
You are welcome. David Gray is great
Hi,
Very nice song, I did enjoy listening to it, and lovely photos to look at on the video as well. 🙂
One of my faves
Good tune. Saw him when Babylon was big.
Your right, he never quite broke through…
Babylon is a great song. Kind of back into him. Seems like every sailing video on YouTube uses Sail Away as their music.
