Carrie Smith, a terrific jazz and blues singer was taken from the world of music on May 20. She was 86. Her career spanned 50 years and she was still recording as recently as 2002. In this period she recorded at least 13 albums and appeared with many contemporaries. Here is a terrific example of her style.

She had a great voice.
I was a little distracted in that first one, like what the heck am I looking at?! That was someone’s strange idea to put her on a swing, 40 feet up in the air! haha!
I also liked the tap dancing in the second one. Gosh, you don’t see those types of great performances anymore. This was great.

Thinking about it, many of today’s singers are just pale imitations of this.

Good point on today. Didn’t Pink do a song on a swing above the stage. Pink is good but this is better
