In summer of 2012, we were doing our “To Sail Or Not To Sail” explorations and stopped in Blind Bay, BC for lunch. Nice resort town on a bay on Shuswap Lake. A beautiful, hot summer day, enjoying a cold one and a burger and then a plane blows by. Love BC.

We did see a sailboat there, pretty much the only one we saw all day. We stopped at a marina and were told, sailboats don’t work on this lake as there is never any wind. Scratch a beautiful lake.

Nice pics!
Was it a seaplane?
Once was stuck in traffic crossing the Queensboro Bridge over the East River. Saw a seaplane do three land/takeoff sets.
In this part of the world they are bush planes, same thing though. Pontoons to land on and take off from lakes.
Learning how to use one of those is on my list of things to do.
Somehow, someway that does not surprise me.
Cheers to your love for sailing.
A goal. Worst case a hobby. Love it
Have very fond memories of Shuswap Lake from summers spent in Penticton (grandparents lived in Oliver, uncle & family lived in Penticton).
Sorry, I had this wrong, the lake I was thinking of was Skaha Lake in Penticton. I have driven around Shuswap Lake many times in my travels to BC.
Close enough haha. Been to skaha too. Did you hear they evacuated several homes around Penticton. Fires in the area. The only bad thing about living there.
