North Korea is in Charge of World Disarmament – Part 3

With righteous indignation, the peace loving government of North Korea lambastes Canada for it’s decision to boycott the UN Conference on Disarmament for the duration of North Korea’s chairmanship.  In response, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, John Baird said that Canada would wear the criticism as a badge of honour.

Simply put, this is a major oxymoron and another reason that the United Nations is becoming more and irrelevant on issues such as this.  Another reason to be proud to be Canadian.  We are the only country to protest this decision to allow the North Koreans the chair.

The Wisdom of Donald Trump – Don't Let Obama Push You Around

Donald Trump has been pretty active on the YouTube front lately, and I’ve been to busy to keep up.  Attached is some advice for the Republicans that he posted on July 18.  Seems the latest “crisis” over the Debt Limit is giving the Donald something interesting to hammer both Obama and the Republicans at the same time with.  Still, you have to respect his acumen and give him some leeway.  He does know money, and how to both make it and keep it.

Bob Rae – I’m "Super Elite" – and a Fool

There are leaders and then there are people who think they are.  Bob Rae thinks he is.  Canada’s Liberal Party leader (for now) has a rather warped sense of self importance.  Imagine the situation as described in this link and then think “sense of entitlement”  The taxpayer foots the bill for most, if not all, of his air fare.  He uses (I assume) his Aeroplan to amass vast amounts of frequent flyer miles, ramping himself to “Super Elite” status.  Then he uses this taxpayer fed status to worm his way on to a flight ahead of several people who had just been told there were no seats.  Lack of class, perhaps.  Lacl of common sense, definitely.  The optics are brutal and heighten the public’s current perception of both him and the party he represents as both elitist and entitlement driven.

The Wisdom of Donald Trump – Debt Ceiling and The Republicans

A new video from Donald Trump, laying into the Republican Party and their moves on the debt ceiling debate that is dominating politics these days.  As always, he is succinct and direct.  He sums things up pretty food for 44 seconds of commentary.  He has the appearance and demeanour of someone who has not quite closed the door on his aspirations.

From his series of videos, DonaldTrump gives his opinions on Derek Jeter‘s 3000th hit, the guy who gave him back the ball for nothing, Obamacare and how the republican’s should deal with the debt ceiling.  An eclectic mix done in true Donald Trump style.

I Love the CBC

CBC Television

A Happy Canada Day from what may be the dumbest news organization on the planet.  A poll, conducted by an Ontario University (funded by my tax dollar I assume)  lists Canadian cities in order of their Canuckiness.  Guess how many are West of Sudbury.  If you said none, you would be correct.  Apparently true Canadians only live in eastern Canada, as in Ontario.  The measurements used are interesting as well.  They used the number of breweries, the number of Tim Hortons outlets and the number of maple syrup producers per 100,000 residents and included a measurement for hockey teams (all) and,of course, bilingualism.  I love the comments as well.  By the way, thank you CBC for pointing out what poor Canadians we are out here in the West by not creating maple syrup and not having enough bilingual people.

Now I Believe Everything They Say About UBB

Thanks Bell Canada, thanks for strengthening my disbelief at anything you have said, or will say, about UBB.  They have been fined 10 million smackeroos for misleading advertising about pricing of their services.  I assume the 10 million will be made up by an increase in my cell rates to pay for, let’s see, network upgrades, or carbon credits or some other fictitious reason.

What If They Held a Strike and No One Noticed

In case you didn’t know, you will be getting mail again on Monday or maybe Tuesday. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t even notice they were gone, other than my paper recycling went down. For a union in the position they are currently in (obsolete institution), you have to wonder what they are trying to accomplish. One clue would be their plea to the NDP to try and get amendments to the back to work legislation. Pay back for support I would think. The dumbest part of this filibuster is that the NDP likely LOST support because of their stand. That bastion of progressive thinking, the CBC, even had a poll that showed 58% support for the legislation. Very telling about the sympathy garnered by the CUPW.

One statement by an NDP member during the filibuster really got me. There are 50,000 families being affected by this strike, meaning the postal workers. I thought to myself, what about the millions of families that are being affected by not getting their mail.

It was at this point in my train of thought that I had an epiphany. I don’t care if they are on strike, and I would assume there are many more in my situation. So truthfully, it was about the 50,000 families and the fact that the entire gravy train is close to being flushed, partly through technology, and partly through the general public’s lack of trust in the institution.

I wonder how long it will be before the next step is taken. If I was running the corporation, attrition would be the means used to make this a profitable enterprise and be right sized to compete. What do I mean you say?

The plan is simple. A letter carrier in a residential area quits, bids off the route or retires. That route changes to a 1,2 or 3 day a week rotation for delivery. Eventually, all residential routes become non-delivery and are solely super boxes. What about businesses you say. Regular delivery is maintained in the downtown cores and industrial areas. Out of designated delivery area businesses would be handled by truck delivery. This deletion of door to door servcies only applies to pure residential areas. Businesses in those areas will be protected and delivered similar to courier routes, by subsidiaries like Purolator or subcontracted. The inside workers would also be reduced through attrition and right sized to declining volumes.

Yes, CUPW, it is over. Your ability to blackmail the country is finished. You reap what you sow, and believe me, you have sown a lot of resentment from the Canadian public over the years.
